AUTHORS INTERVIEW
Are you a pianist or musician yourself?
Warner: I am a trained singer and teach piano and flute.
Do you already have a clear picture of the following parts in the series?
Warner: I do have a clear picture of where the Octavia series is going. I have already started Part 2 of the series and I am at chapter 17.!
Where did the inspiration for the book come from?
Warner:Octavia just appeared in my head some years ago.(Her name is based on the musical word ‘octave’)
It is only recently I have had the time to bring her to life.!
Where did the idea of the triplets come from? Are they based on any characters?
Warner: The ‘Triplets’ come also from music. (A Triplet is 3 notes in the place of 2)
The three names come from musical performance directions, which derive from the Italian.
‘Poco’ means little. ‘Pochettino’ or Poch for short, means rather little. ‘Placido’ means calm, peaceful.
Are there roots of a personal reality in the book?
Warner: The whole idea of Octavia comes from my imagination and musical experience.
What kind of books do you most enjoy reading?
Warner: I enjoy reading all kinds of books. I read a lot, and get my love of books from my Father who was a classical scholar.
Did you enjoy the experience of writing and publishing a book?
Warner: I thoroughly enjoy writing. I have been writing and telling stories to children since the age of eleven.
The experience of publishing a book, I think, is an art in itself. One never realises all that goes into the publishing of any one book, and the many people who, behind the scenes are involved.
What are your plans for the future?
Warner: I would like very much to continue with my writing. Of course, Octavia’s adventures are uppermost in my mind at the moment. But I do have other ideas for childrens stories.
